BRIEF ARTICLE OVERVIEW: An innocent birthday celebration turns into a trigger night. Without food, alcohol became a new means of escape for Jessica Fisher. After realizing that she was sabotaging herself, she began to attend therapy regularly and has now been sober for months. It is hard for her to say she has had moments of weakness, especially with such a successful surgery outcome. Certainly not the only person to go through addiction replacement or has had trouble adjusting to a new body. By speaking out on these issues she is hoping others who are struggling with the same things will seek counseling.

BRIEF ARTICLE OVERVIEW: Individual aftercare is critical to weight loss surgery post-op success. To maximize post-surgery success, one-on-one psychological help needs to be an integral part of a comprehensive aftercare program. Patients bring with them a wide range of non-surgical issues that argue for a multi-disciplinary approach to aftercare. One such school of thought about aftercare counseling is Cognitive Behavioral Treatment. This method addresses specific thoughts and behaviors that need to be targeted for change after gastric bypass surgery.
