BRIEF ARTICLE OVERVIEW: Weight loss surgery requires not only physical but mental adjustments and accepting these physical and emotional changes post-op are considerable. Living in a society that places unrealistic demands on women to be thin, the goal to achieving body perfection is unattainable. Losing weight is only the first step to leaving failure, baggage and emotional issues behind. Allow a bit of lag time to exist between the “new” body/soul connections. Working to unite the new body to the new self is a work in progress every day, and realizing it may never be totally finished.
